Animated horror films are far and few, computer animated horror films much more – what you get with Monster House is a fun filled thrill ride that’s about as intense as a haunted house attraction. Despite the accessible nature of the film, this is not necessarily intended for young children. The film has some pretty intense moments and a lot of the humor will fly over the head of the little ones. The acting is top notch and the animation (using performance capture) is tight and clean. The story is an original one, and the characters themselves are memorable, whether it’s the main characters or the minor ones. The two cops are a laugh riot as is the pizza delivery boy/arcade game enthusiast who throws out a little mythos to our main characters regarding the house. Monster House is an enjoyable little treat to watch just before Halloween, or even afterwards.
