Horrorfestonline.com

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

It’s too bad that they missed October for all of this, but we don’t mind, it simply extends the Halloween celebrations. Horrorfestonline.com details an upcoming horror festival at a theater near you and threatens your life with “8 films to die for.”

When taking a look at the site, I see the excellent header art…HOT and SCARY at the same time. What a nice combo. Once I got past all of that, I see that the movies all look rather excellent as well…particularly The Gravedancers which features some spookey looking monsters.

And that brings me to my next rant, what is up with all the horror movies that feature serial killers as their main mode of scariness? Yea I get it, real life killers are much more real than the supernatural variety and therefore are more likely to scare you. The serial slasher flick is tired. If it has to be a non-supernatural killer, how about the story of a person riding the downward spiral to craziness (The Shining) as opposed to them already being crazy (Halloween). In the end tho, I’ll always dig the supernatural stalking (The Blair Witch Project) over the “real-life” stalking (Saw I, II, III).

Bringing it back to Horrorfest tho, it looks like we will be given a handful of supernatural flicks to go pee in our pants over…oh yea, and there are several theaters in Houston showing the fest.

Kiss and shake

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

What? Not holding a Friday the 13th horror movie marathon for the rare Friday the 13th that falls in October? Ok then, go to Fear Houston at the Northwest Mall where they are hosting Mini Kiss. Supposedly this thing is going to be pretty cool with 3 opening acts for the Kiss tribute band and “HUGE light show” as the owners of Fear Houston have put it. See more info here.

In other less important news, we went out and tried that pumpkin pie shake from Jack in the Box like we promised. We had the option not to have the whipped cream and cherry on top, but ARE YOU KIDDING? We definitely went with the extras on this puppy.

…And the pumpkin pie shake was goooood.
