Trick err Treat!

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Another October 31st is here ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls… So what are you guys and gals doing tonight?? Obviously, we suggest that you visit one of our fine local attractions! Perhaps you can pile up your friends and take a trip out to a haunted house across town (in Houston that means: ROAD TRIP!). Maybe you just want to take it easy, visit the one closest to you (after you hand out generous portions of candy to the few children that still trick or treat).

And that brings me to a small rant…If you come to my door tonight, you better say “trick or treat.” What is up with that anyways? In that past few years, I’ve seen kids coming around without a costume on and they just hold up their bag like homeless kids. It makes me wonder if I should give them quarters or perhaps a leg o’ turkey. Say it or suffer dire consequences children!! Consequences as horrendous as me pleading with you to say it, or me telling how I said it when I was a little kid, or perhaps even pencils instead of candy…oh the horror!

Lastly, don’t forget, if you don’t go house haunting tonight, there are still plenty of attractions that will be open tomorrow night (November 1st). Show them support and they will show you more open dates…

Happy Halloween Houston!

A World of Screamin’ Thanks

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

We had a chance to stop and smell the flowers last night, so we jumped into our casket and rolled down to the SW lounge. It was a perfect evening, the weather was cool, the people excited, and I just finished a horribly stressful week at school. Nothing like a few people screaming in my face and dazzling haunted interiors to get my head back on straight. So with that said, I think I should mention that ScreamWorld continues their improvement. This year the fixes seemed relatively small, but I like to think of myself as an artist and the key is in the details. (more…)

Discover Houston ToursHad a chance to talk with Sandra Lord, owner and operator of Discover Houston Tours and got a great interview. From when she started it all, to what the future holds for her broomstick adventures.

Q: How long have the ghost walks been going on in Houston?
A: I have been conducting walking tours for 20 years, since I founded Discover Houston Tours in 1988. The Ghost Walks started in 1999, so I have been doing those for 9 years. I added the public Broomstick Adventures this year for the first time. (more…)
